    Treats middle management like slaves

Former Employee - Vice President of Operations

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many of us become very good friends as we only have one another for support against the verbal, emotional and physical harassment of our superiors

    Cons

    * If you are a salaried middle management prepare to work 60-70 hour weeks or more. *Despite numerous complaints to Human Resources expect to be retaliated against and for it to escalate unless you threaten a lawsuit *Should your complaints are taken seriously by Human Resources expects a huge fall out against you that will be disguised in a way you have no recourse *Should you need medical leave, Metlife is in charge of approving or not approving your illness. While one person was given 3 months off with pay because she broke up with her boyfriend (with whom she reunited with 3 weeks into her paid leave), another person was denied after having a stroke and was ordered back to work or face termination. * All other banks will scoop up a former Citi employee in a hot second as in the banking industry Citi employees are considered the equilivant of Navy Seals an are called the Navy Seals of banking * If middle management expect to be on call 24/7 including vacation days, sick days and in my case Funeral Day. I was only allowed to turn off my cell phone during actual funeral service and as I had to travel for the funeral I was "asked" to report to the Citi operation center in the area and get some work done, when I refused to do so it showed up on my evaluation as not being a team player. * In traveling for work and working with my counterparts in other states I found they were paid a salary much higher than I for the exact same job. These are just a few Cons about Citi, they also LOVE to hire young people who don't know worker's rights and take advantage of that fact by allowing abuse and harassment to happen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people with respect! Stop breaking the law by managing thru harassment. Acknowledge when any of your employees have done a good job. Don't play favorites and don't pit employees against one another.
