I have been working at Citi full-time for more than a year

Pros

Citi overall is a great company with CEO Michael Corbat at the helm it seems that there is more accountability and more focus on what matters. They promote alternative work strategies and offer the tools to make your job a lot easier and more efficient

Cons

Alternative work strategies although promoted all depends on your manager and there are way too many old school out of touch senior managers that are strongly opposed to it. Very long work hours. There are too many middle to senior managers that are not being managed and show complete disrespect to their employees and their clients. These managers are found everywhere but some departments in citi do not have this issue.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually listen to your employees and take their grievances more seriously. There are director level managers that are not being managed themselves and are not being held accountable when they have blatant disregard for clients and the company's reputation.

I worked at Citi full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Generally good people. Comprehensive benefits

    Cons

Compensation heavily skewed toward senior management. Pay freezes for the last 5 years are not uncommon. Generally new hire salaries are significantly more than what an existing employee gets, because they pay what they have to what the job commands on the open market. Company has excellent benefits, but is intensely stingy, no parties, no cups in the break rooms, no knick knacks, birthday recognition - nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive managers - continue to keep most of the booty for yourself and we'll see what happens when the market returns and people can find another job

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefit, medical, dental, 401k, flexible schedule.

    Cons

Lower than industry salary, always changes, SR management changes frequently. If you get promoted, your salary increase is capped with low percentage. External hire always make more for the same position. The longer you stay, the lower you pay is comparing with your peers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really treat people as asset, create promote from within, not pay external hire more than internal employees with many years loyalty.
