    Pros

Great benefits. Helped in getting a nice rate with mortgage. Nice 401k Match. The possibilities are there to learn and get training. Some areas even make it easy to get Certifications.

    Cons

Easy to get lost in the crowd. Tech side seems to have a lot of disconnects. Silos still exist with little communication between them unless forced. Although the training possibility is there, some areas are squeezed so much that there isn't time to take advantage of them. After hours support becomes "expected" of Salaried employees with no comp time to balance out.

    Advice to Management

All I can say is "Span of Control" - If you manage an area, be familiar with the processes going on. That will be the only way to improve them. On boarding should not be limited to coming thru the door, each group should have a way of making sure that new employees know what they need to do and what's expected of them. Uncertainty leads to mistakes and discomfort. "Voice of the Employee" and "culture of Meritocracy" are smokescreens. Most action seems to be driven by fear of the big guys/gals.

    Pros

Large organization that supports career mobility. Increasing focus on consolidation and eliminating redundant technology, which means there are many new projects using the latest technologies.

    Cons

Communication of strategy is ineffective, so teams within the same functional groups don't even know what each other are doing. No common culture. Compensation is not competitive with peer group, especially for those who have been with the firm since the start of the depression.

    Advice to Management

Define and communicate the corporate culture, and start paying some attention to compensation.
