I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Being such a large company with a strong global presence there are many lateral movement opportunities. Movement is allowed after you've been in a role for about 18 months. There are many opportunities to network within the company and move laterally.

Cons

In almost every role you'll have to manage your manager and your day-to-day work will be secondary. Promotions within your current role or team is extremely rare. One has to move to another team to move up a level or leave the company for a few years and come back at a more senior position. Although attempts have been made to "flatten" the management structure bureaucracy still exists.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There's needs to be a clear and transparent structure on how employees are rated and compensated. Implement easier and faster ways for execution. Invest in technolog and infrastructure.

Benefits are good. But you pay for it in kind. Long hours, very bureacratic.

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Compensation is good. Both Pay and bonuses are higher than market averages. Benefits are excellent - 3 weeks vacation to start with for non officer level exempt employes. Maternity Leave benefits are very good. 100% paid leave for 12 weeks after 1 year of service for exempt employees.

    Cons

Long hours. Unofficial expectation of over 9-10 hrs per day for middle office type roles. No room for work life balance. Telecommuting and flex work arrangements are not encouraged. No concessions made for Special circumstances or temporary personal life situations. Also difficult to move up unless you are 'in' with the right decision making crowd.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider Telecommuting and flex time arrangement for better work life balance which will inturn boost morale, confidence and loyalty in the company and management and help with retention.
