I worked at Citi full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

relative work stability, assuming your department has a reasonable P&L. reasonable office culture and benefits

Cons

large bureaucracy, silo-ed leadership. Annual 360 exercises and corporate surveys are a bad joke

Advice to Management

average pay attracts complacent managers rather than industry leaders

I worked at Citi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with some great people at Citi. I learned a lot in my time there

    Cons

The deadlines were unreasonable There was absolutely no consideration of individual working styles I was asked (including guilt tactics) several times to cancel my vacations

I have been working at Citi full-time

    Pros

It's easy to move within Citi, they have a good internal job website. As individuals, there are a number of good / nice people there.

    Cons

Headcount cuts EVERY QUARTER for the last 3 years. Workload is increased, headcount shrinks. Senior Mgt has no knowledge of or interest in its employees. Work/life balance is non-existent. Take a look outside of any NYC Citigroup building Monday thru Friday from 7pm onward... there's a constant stream of food deliveries all night long. Go see, this is verifiable. There's also a constant stream of black cars all night.

    Advice to Management

You won't know you've cut too many heads until it's too late... Productivity, morale, reputation, etc slowly sink and take a long time to regain. Take a look at Citi when it was run by John Reed and then compare to now... before, it was a career; now, it's a machine.
