Pros

- Huge behemoth. Plenty of career opportunities. - Flexibility to lay your path. Most are open for job rotations after 1-1.5 yrs. - Base pay

Cons

- Bureaucratic: Red tape all over. - Bonus: Less than competition. - Legacy: Less hiring implies no new ideas. Old ways of doing things at times.

Advice to Management

- Fix the cons above. - Lay the business strategy. Pound it on within people. - Mobile the organization (hire right people) around the strategy.

    Pros

Smart, friendly, and well-adjusted people. People willing to help whether you're part of their team/project or not. Relatively agile for a large company, good office location and amenities.

    Cons

Scope of projects I was given were relatively narrow. Typical problems of working in a large organization: Lots of hoops to jump through to get management or HR/payroll/finance approval for any changes to project parameters or to do simple things like get various approval papers signed for things such as personal trading declarations. The processes for these types of things did go pretty quickly considering the steps involved.

    Advice to Management

Adjust size of teams for best operating efficiency. Bring in more multi-disciplinary elements to the personnel pools. Technology support here was good: IT was efficient and the right tools were always available for completing the job; if not, they were requisitioned easily.
