Current Employee - Sales Associate
Current Employee - Sales Associate

I have been working at Citi Trends part-time (more than an year)

Pros

- Great opportunity for those who have other things going on in life such as school or raising a family
- Easy to learn job

Cons

- Pay is low
- Hours are low
- Once minimum wage was increased that was considered my raise
- When assistant managers quit sales associates pick up the slack but at a sales associate pay. I find myself doing the work of the assistant manager without their pay

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Please hire more reliable managers
- Consider giving raises which would give associates a better desire to work there even longer

I worked at Citi Trends full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Best reasons to work here?
Some of your coworkers are nice.
    Flexible scheduling.
    And that's about it.

    Cons

There's absolutely no employee discount. Just employee appreciation days, which is 2-3 days every 4 months.
If your store is SAS, then you don't get any pay increases or a promotion.
You have to kiss butt to get good hours.
    Management plays favorites.
Although I was a sales associate, I was forced to do management work.
Customers are rude and are "always right."
As the freight associate, pressure to get the 90 boxes of daily freight unpacked and put on the sales floor was extremely high.
Most employees quit within their first week. During the 10 months I worked there, I saw about 30 employees quit. It's rare for someone to make it a full year.

So much more, but it would be a novel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to appreciate your employees. Quit asking us to do your jobs, or at least compensate us correctly. Try and make the working experience less stressful.
