I have been working at CitiMortgage full-time for less than a year

Pros

If you're willing to put the work in, you have endless opportunity. I got extremely lucky and was placed with a very helpful manager who is constantly pushing employees to do better, and recognizes your strengths while helping you work on your weaknesses. Hard work will get you places. Salary is okay, if anything, this is a great place to start your career and get experience.

Cons

i've noticed a lot of micromanaging in certain departments. I have not had to deal with any of it yet. Pay could be better, but it gets you by.

I worked at CitiMortgage full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great Company to gain Knowledge and practices. Will leave the door open for you to learn but at your own risk. If your great at learning the information yourself this is a great company to work for. Self taught employees expand really fast here.

    Cons

Vary High employee turn over here! Based on my experience with CitiMortgage in Irving Tx, They hire off the street and pay more to the new hires then the employees that have tenure with the company leading to lose of talent and constant turmoil within. If you want more money or the median pay you have to leave the company and later return in order to gain a couple more dollars for the same position. Internal hiring will do there best to not reward you for years of service and knowledge. This seems to be company practice at Citi. CitiMortgage has employees that been with the company for 10 plus years making less then new employees off the street in some cases. CitiMortgage is not a great place to build a career but to gain leading knowledge of the industry. They still have a "Good ol Boy" way of doing business but if you need a job and your ok with the 80's way of doing business. This is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always have more knowledge of the job duties then your employees. Never hire friends within your own department and never reward them with better opportunities just because their your friends. This is a terrible trend within many Dallas Texas base Corporations. This way of building a large or smal company proves destructive to competitive workers within a company. Managers should be able to recognize what level of talent they have and know when an employee should reach for more demanding roles within a company. Managers should recommend and advance candidates for more rewarding roles within their company and in return HR should then reach out to those candidates, not the other way around. Trying to hold back employees so the Manager can look good on paper is not what Mangers should do. A Mangers job is to first follow line of business and meet company/ department goals set. Second, build employees to make the company as a whole stronger, faster, smarter then competitors. Third, Mangers should never take the credit for what their team accomplishes; only for the way its organized and how smooth his or her department runs.

I have been working at CitiMortgage full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great place to work, lots of opportunities to move up if you want to.

    Cons

Based on bonus eligible departments. For those interested in moving up you will take a pay cut to move into a manager or team lead position. Because no one wants to take a pay cut it greatly reduces the amount of qualified knowledgeable people who apply for these positions. The managers you work with aren't always the most knowledgeable and this can create frustration on both sides.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You get what you pay for. If you want the best and the brightest your going to have to pay them for their talent.
