It's a very bipolar atmosphere where you don't know how you're going to be treated every day.

Pros

One positive about working at the Wellness and Counseling Center is you get to interact and work directly with the students. This is especially helpful if you want to get into psychology or the medical field after college. You learn to deal with the different behavioral and mental personalities of each student which gives you a lot hands on experience. You learn patience, and understanding.

Cons

It's very stressful in that you never know what kind of day you're going to have. You might work your butt off and get a bad review from the director anyway. Quite frankly, you never know which personality you're going to work with. Some days are sporadic and some days are a breeze. Most jobs on campus are laid back, but at the Wellness and Counseling Center you are expected to be on your toes all day. The director does not want the Wellness and Counseling staff (2 different departments that work together) to befriend each other. If you become friends with the staff, you are good as gone.

Advice to Management

The Center needs to be monitored by someone above the director. In order for the program to truly succeed the way I believe the school wants it to, there needs to be a major change or it will never grow to the potential it truly has. Because the staff is so unhappy and stressed to work there, it's impossible for the program to become a better place.

    Pros

For students its convenient to work on campus and they would find alot of such opportunities during their stay at college.

    Cons

You should not stay as full time employee as the room for growth is almost negligible.

    Advice to Management

Try to have some coordination between the projects, different departments are working on.

    Pros

Proximity to the city (wouldn't really call it... being in the city... per se) Colleagues (b/c they know what you are going through)

    Cons

Limited resources (capital and others) Poor & unorganized management Hard to come by appraisals for your job and effort Unsafe working environment

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, the working atmosphere is like "everyone is out for themselves" & "look out for your own good" mentality from the upper management downwards. So it just makes you feel the same, no "team" effort here.
