Pros

A lot of appetite for change in the air. Leadership is making a serious investment in changing the outcomes for students.

Cons

Accountability has yet to really sink in across the board. This makes it very challenging to actually get something accomplished.

Most tenure faculty

Advice to Management

Good job.

    Pros

City Colleges has a great benefits package, although some of the HR staff are incompetent when it comes to explaining them.

    Cons

The culture is terrible! Processes are long, confusing, and ineffective. It takes weeks, if not months, to purchase necessities. Lots of old-timers want to do things as they always have without consideration to new methodologies or cost improvements. Most people at CCC just want their paycheck and their SURS retirement, they are not interested in improving education. Lack of communication at all levels, and this alone is going to further sink CCC!

    Advice to Management

Take note from much larger organizations on how to implement change. Empower employees with data & information so that good decisions can be made at all levels of the organization, not just top down. Reduce or remove organizational boundaries. Maximize value for the student....learn to be customer centric.

I have been working at City Colleges of Chicago part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great fellow adjuncts that truly care about students even thougt most (not all) students care more about their financial aid checks than their education.

    Cons

Adjuncts treated as second-class by administration and full-time faculty. If you need assistance with something like a projector, you can expect attitude from the support staff. In fact, you can expect attitude from most non student facing employees.

Course scheduling each term is inconsistent and "favorites" get the better classes and schedules.

    Advice to Management

    Reward your outstanding adjuncts.
