I have been working at City of Charlottesville

Pros

Reasonably fair wage for a local government which generally supports a balance between work and family.

Cons

Limited career growth. Salaries does not keep pace with the job market. You may hire in somewhat close to market rate, however, with the small raises (if there are any) you fall behind.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee recognition is important.
