I have been working at City of Savannah

Pros

a job in this economy no weekends, off by 5 pm good benefits, paid time off my co workers are lovely to get along with

Cons

pay-its a government job, so you're not gonna be getting any raises or bonuses too often career advancement- you get in the front door on your own merit, once you're in, you have to kiss and "politic" to get a promotion promotions are based on who likes you no tuition reimbursement if they dont like your classes pension is auto taken out your check-you cant opt out!! supervisor is not at all concerned about you or your personal career growth!!

Advice to Management

need to give at least a cost of living raise every year supervisors need to care more about their employees and how to advance them in the next area of career growth supervisors should get an annual review from their workers, bet a lot of changes would be made offer better starting pay

I worked at City of Savannah

    Pros

The pay rate is very good and the benefits are good too. There is opportunity to grow if there's an opening in your department or you can apply for other jobs in other bureaus if you have enough time in. Work hours are good, standard work day with holidays off.

    Cons

Depending on your department it can be hard to advance because people get into a position and stay there. Also, some people are ineffective in their positions but they have seniority. Time-off policies are very strict unless you have worked there long enough to have leave time. The workload is fine, the people you work with make it hard. People should leave the drama at home.

    Advice to Management

Give people the tools they need to grow. Don't play favorites, especially when it comes to letting slackers slide and being strict on others you don't like as much.
