Great benefits as long as you can keep your job.

Librarian (Current Employee)
Stockton, CA

ProsGreat benefits, some positions are rewarding and good for the community, some positions are offered educational reimbursement, educational insentive bonuses.

ConsRight now, no job security. Senior Management spends budget on pet projects and doesn't have enough for employees. Possible Layoffs and mandatory furloughs result and that is after a voluntary seperation program. No communication between management and employees. The city is like 18 million dollars in debt and employees found out about most of it through the local newspaper. Also, the management spends money on consultants to do things they could probably accomplish themselves. This includes a consultant to figure out what parts of the budget were priorities, and then they changed their minds and cut 10 percent off the board.

Advice to Senior ManagementSave money and communicate. Employees are more important than projects
