I have been working at Clear Channel full-time

Pros

Pay is ok. A few smart, nice people to work with. Safe place if you're ok with playing in the minor leagues.

Cons

Never-ending politics. Self-promoting, watch-out for yourself mentality. Highly unstable environment with never-ending priority shifts. Dictatorial, micromanaging leadership that goes all the way to the top. Barbaric vacation/time-off policies. Bargain basement benefits. Extra bonus points if you're willing to do email on weekends and evenings. Old boys network. No opportunities for women. Grumpy faces all around.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management does not get the best of the team because they're so worried about keeping their own jobs. Stop micromanaging and learn how to run a company.

    Pros

    This company knows how to make money. The managers are very focused on the goals of their employees and they help them get where they want to be. There is also a lot of opportunity to move up or into another division or market.

    Cons

    It is very corporate. A lot of paperwork, a lot of rules. Some might say it is a strict work environment.

    Pros

    Technology is fantastic and progressive.

    Cons

    The point of diminishing returns has been met in regards to staff reductions. 5 Managers for every Staff member. Who's left to do the work?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Value people. In the entertainment industry, people drive the value of the company. If you're going to syndicate all programming into a hub and spoke template nationally...just do it and stop trying to convince people that the local communities matter. The only think local that is happening is local sales.
