Great culture, incredible talent & product. Young CEO who's made mistakes, but he's making a big effort to improve.

I have been working at Clinkle full-time (more than a year)

Pros

-Everyone at Clinkle is a genius of high caliber
-Really laid back work environment, happy hour Fridays.
-But we're also really serious about our work, and take the technology to the next level
-Best design team in the valley
-Best of the best talent out of Stanford (several engineers were in top 2% of class)
-Extremely beautiful and user-focused product, not just a utility app
-Trying to solve a really huge problem, fundamental to every human
-Not just looking to get acquired like most startups, trying to go big
-Very well-funded, meaning we can hire amazing people
-The CEO fully understands the mistakes he's made, and is making a huge effort recently to improve on these problems and hire really experienced executives to help him get better.

Cons

-CEO is young an inexperienced, but acts like he's already started two or three billion-$ companies
-Design Team can be overbearing and overconfident in their requirements to engineering
-Product hasn't launched yet (though this is mostly due to our external vendors, not internal)
-Slightly below market compensation (but they'll definitely give you a raise if you earn it)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue improving on the communication channels, continue hiring great top executives and bringing more experience to the management team.

Poor leadership, poor inter-departmental communication, and no appreciation of any company's biggest asset: its people.

I worked at Clinkle full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice office
Happy hours on Friday and catered lunches
Really talented young people who are inspiring and fun

    Cons

    Poor senior leadership
Very low compensation to non-engineering roles
2 rounds of layoffs in 3 months? Not great for culture, job security, or company values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to value your employees. Don't treat people like a number. Get a better handle on communicating between teams so that things can move forward with the organization.

I have been working at Clinkle (less than a year)

    Pros

    Great product
    Great caterers
    The engineering team is brilliant

    Cons

The culture has completed had a 180 in a span of 6 months, all the little traditions were axed by senior management.
    Constantly worried about job security
I used to be proud to work at Clinkle, but over the past 3 months due to hiring of senior management and cuts throughout the company, the spirit that drew many individuals to the company has been completely lost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep fluid communications with the staff. Remember what Clinkle is trying to do and who your target consumer is. It will be hard for a corporation to relate to College students when you've let that part of your staff go.
