I worked at Clyde Bergemann

Pros

PROs- Large company that is extremely profitable. 6% bonus at end of year. Ability to negotiate on payscale and number of vacation days. Flex hours available and a nice basketball hoop for playing hoops during lunch breaks.

Cons

Cons- The CEO is aware of the problems and has been incompetent in taking corrective action to fix a major problem. Your suggestions are ignored. The last meeting to correct the problems promoted the two individuals who have created the problems. Management has sat back for a decade and allowed two people to become unexpendable (and gave them raises throughtout!) by allowing them to draw the path for this company by being the only people who know how the systems operate and successfully convinced upper management that the problem has been in all of the 20+ engineers that have left and not them. Management is blind to see that the reason why they don’t train others is to secure their jobs!! If one of them were to leave, their controls dept would be devastated so the CEO has taken the path of fear and refuses to address the problem. The latest corrective action by the CEO is to put a quality control person in charge of engineering. Yes, this is true. A non engineer dictating the job responsibilites of engineers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring young guys out of college who have no reference on how a real company operates. Young people are nieve and don’t realize how pathetic this company is ran since they have nothing to compare it too. This seems the only path available as after interviewing engineers and having a non stop recruitment of enginners and not being able to find one, the only answer is to keep hiring young guys. I would also keep promoting from within and never hire an outside person who has engineered at another company to bring in fresh ideas

UPDATE: 4-30-12. hired new controls engineer on Monday- never showed up and quit on Wednesday of the same week!!!

It seems that our ex-employee was highly frustrated at the company choosing to keep some of our most valuable and highly experienced employees. Sadly he felt that these were cause of his frustration ... More

    Pros

There is no Pros other than flexible job timing. You can go anytime from 7:00 am to 9:00 am in the morning. This will give you option to avoid rush hours.

    Cons

There is no management in Controls Department at all. You will be reporting more than one Manager. The controls engineers are being treated as Donkeys by controls managers. More than 25 controls engineers have resigned from the job since last five years. Still the very upper management is blind or trying to be blind. One of the controls Manager is the biggest lier i have ever seen in my professional career, i should say in my life. Please do not join this company unless & until you do not have any other choice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please fire the controls managers. If you do so, Clyde Bergemann will be the best company to work for. The controls department is the biggest probelm for this company & it won't be solved until the present Controls managers are still there as controls managers or holding any other positions. They are not capable to manage the controls engineers, at all. They keep hiding the knowledge for their own job security & never help others to grow.

Worst Controls department in Atlanta, probably GA.

It seems like they having difficulties to get controls engineers from Atlanta.
Everyone knows they have the worst controls department in Atlanta or probably Georgia.
Thus, HR director and hiring managers will find ways and means to get you on board. (Ex: False promise and lying).
Around 26 controls engineer left in the past 3 yrs. FYI, they only have around 4-5 controls engineers.

Always work over time and never get paid.

Do not value talent (Controls engineers).
Never try to keep controls engineers when they quit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take great care to those controls engineers who willing to stay and work for the company.
I believe there are good controls engineers who care about the company.
Value those talents and try to keep them before they leave.
