Current Employee - Manager in Tokyo (Japan)

Pros

Great brands in the portfolio. Many of the worlds leading soft drink brands under one roof.
Market leader in Japan for many years. Finally get back on track and growing market share.
Nice location in a central part of Tokyo. Places to eat are not far and commuting is not difficult.
Respected company among the marketing community. Paired with P&G, probably the top two places to have on your resume as a marketer in Japan. Furthermore, one of the most important markets to work for as a expat traveling the globe. Responsible for a sizable portion of the global profits.

Cons

Work hours are without a doubt the number one problem at this company. Anyone will tell you this, even if they don't work at Coke. This is so famous that taxi drivers all know there will be a surefare if they wait outside of Coca-Cola after midnight. The lights are always on 24-7.
Lack of diversity is tough. Although there are often non-Japanese in the office for short stints, they come and go and the company keeps on moving without making big changes. Still a very Japanese company and will likely stay that way.
Slow corporate pace is something that irritates staff and also hurts productivity in the office and sales out of the office. Decision need to be made quicker and with more confidence.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work/Life balance is necessary to nurture creative minds. Company loyalty is undervalued. Lead by example, not by mission statements and empty promises

    Pros

Pay. Benefits. Working with the coolest sales folks around. Being armed with as much knowledge as possible about the prospective company is in your best interest. Not only will it help you formulate more insightful questions, it will boost your confidence as well.

    Cons

Commute time, for me. Not much upward mobility without a 4 year college degree. More training options would be great. Allowing more work-from-home arrangements would be even better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow more work-from-home arrangements
