Cognizant Tech Solutions Principal Architect in Los Angeles, CA: (Current Employee)

Pros

For young and inexperienced professionals it's a great chance to see the US. CTS got the low-value staff augmentation game nailed!

Cons

I am a non-Indian, US-based consulting executive with an Ivy League advanced degree and over 17 years of professional experience. CTS lured me with empty promises of consulting excellence from a Big-4 competitor over 3 years ago.
There is no way to be promoted unless you are a yes-man on the leash tied to an account manager. I am currently on a layoff list because I refuse to relocated on a whim of inexperienced, short-sighted and self-serving account managers and insist on travelling to client engagements. CTS will not pay expenses for employee travel and will not bill clients for expenses since expense amounts impact their PERCEIVED profitability!
This is a joke of a company. If you are an experienced professional - stay away from CTS!!!

Advice to Senior Management

Start listening to advice of those in your company who have been around the block a few times and know how to build and run a successful consultancy... or stop pretending that you are one!

You nailed the gist of this company down to its core. As a professional consultant also lured in by false promises, I was shocked to discover its relocation policies, and can only hope to stick around (i.e. relocate with my entire family!) until the labor market picks up. If only I had read your review prior to joining...

I'm an Indian,what have said is true (sadly though).CTS professional are not only inexperienced but also unskilled bunch managers.
Most of fellows here Team lead or Project lead or Manager sucks !!! All they need is PROFIT for the account.
If you are PM then you should suck the blood of APM to get the work done. APM will do the same to project lead then project lead to team lead finally team member works like slaves. Cunning people move onsite and enjoy.
I have seen more than 90% of people working from onsite has no skills at all.

Thank you, thank you for validating me! I am so glad I was not the only one! This has turned me to a downright protectionist. I cannot believe the H1-B abuse that goes on in this company. Their entire business model is built on an immigration backbone that is being heavily scrutinized and could easily break.

One more thing to note - it is this company's policy NOT to extend severance which means they are WIDE open for lawsuits.

I was offered a job at CTS and am thinking on accepting it. it is a senior manager with no reports. after reading this and other CTS reviews I am considering saying no. Can you give me some detail of what I have to ask to HR about the relocation policies before signing the contact? it is just to be sure I have a strong argument to negotiate. the package is rather good.
is it true they pay bonuses close to 200%?
