    Pros

    Best reason to work at Coherent is life/work balance.

    Cons

    No Bonus plan for non management employees. Ability to move upward is almost non existence. Management is traditional and focus to much on weekly financial performance of the business unit.

    Need to consolidate business units. Eliminate non added management positions.

    I worked at Coherent full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Worked for the company for 10+ years. Good mid level people. Great industry. Good technology.

    Cons

    Executive team is very isolated from their employees Limited career growth, employee benefits are being reduced, stock ownership has be scaled back, bonuses are only for senior management, vacation time burned through useless mandatory shutdowns. CEO is combative when given feedback.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You need to be more conscious of how your quarterly numbers-driven business decisions impact your workers. A more egalitarian approach to comp and benefits is needed.
