I worked at Coldwater Creek full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Retail Field Staff is comprised of wonderful, talented, intelligent people. Customer Service is #1 in the retail market. I worked for this company for 5 years and loved my job for 4 1/2 years of those 5.

Cons

The daily frustrations became too much. The corporate staff was cut by 20%, insurance premiums doubled along with deductibles, PTO was taken away along with matching 401K funds which were promised at beginning of 2013. These cuts are supposed to save the company, but the same mistakes are still coming from corporate that got the company in trouble in the first place. Seriously, how can a few people at the top who are being paid way too much, keep making such poor business decisions?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire all of the top executives and let the Field Management run the company. Maybe then this company has a chance of survival.

    Pros

    Better pay than an average retailer
     Very respectful towards employees
     Easy to move up in the company

    Cons

    Return policy was WAY too open and customers abused it
    Part time positions can be VERY part time

    I have been working at Coldwater Creek part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    The product draws quality associates and customers. The return policy is basically, there isn't one. Associates are enpowered with the ability to process returns without receipts, questions, or time limits.

    Cons

    Must retail stores have slab floors that are hard on legs. The policy of discharging an employee if they have a medical condition that causes them to be off work for more than 10 days in a row. Have a little more flexibility for surgeries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Follow through with contests, spifs and employee recognition programs. Always ensure that the employee discount is greater than the customer discount. Some type of cushion behind cash wrap to help reduce leg fatigue of cashiers would help reduce leg fatigue.
