I worked at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great benefits and still has some great people there. Most of the brands are very well know and the company store is great.

Cons

The way they treat people is very poor and much different from their posted and much talked about values and principles. It's all about the financials vs. caring and developing people. There is no work/life balance and upper management talks about how important but their actions are the complete opposite.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It needs to be all about the people. Your systems, software and P&L don't mean anything if you don't treat people well. Many people used to go to CP and stay forever even until a few years ago, not anymore. You've turned the company into what you used to poke fun at some of your competitors for.

I have been working at Colgate-Palmolive full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Colgate has excellent employee programs and is very well run. Colgate is slow moving, but consistent and rewards hard work. Colgate people generally want to do the right thing and are seasoned

    Cons

Colgate is hierarchical, slow to innovate and people are stretched very thin. Cost saving is valued above quality at times. Passion is not valued at Colgate. There are a lot of empty suits that move ahead by giving the semblance of competance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on changing the old guard and the top down approach. It is a bit stifling and does not really allow for change or creativity. Where are the women?

  2.

Enjoyed a very hands-on six month co-op with Colgate in which I learned and achieved a lot.

Former Employee - Logistics Analysis Intern (Cube #2) in Atlanta, GA

I worked at Colgate-Palmolive as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The co-op at Colgate provides training in programs like Crystal Reports, SAP & BW. Interns are given real projects that have a genuine impact on the company and are not made to waste their time on "coffee & donuts" type tasks. The office in Atlanta is a very friendly, helpful, and team-oriented environment. You will feel at home here.

    Cons

Even with six months spent in the co-op there are still some projects that are large enough you cannot see them through to completion. The only other con is that the program starts off quickly... it can be like trying to drink from a fire hose at times, but everyone is patient and helpful so this isn't so bad.
