Good PR, Bad Product

College Coach (Former Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I worked at College Bound as a contractor for more than a year

ProsBeing able to work with students.

ConsManagement. It is a non-profit founded by people who believe more in being seen helping students, moreso than actually helping students. The philosophy of the organization is contradictory at best, with workers and management playing favorites with some students/workers, while constantly ignoring others. Academic support for students is highly ignored to increase the dependence of the students on the organization and the people who work there. It is an organization which hurts students more than helping them, by teaching them to abandon their culture and become co-dependent on the system, rather than being independent critical thinking citizens. But then, what can you expect from an organization that doesn't even have one person with a degree in education?

Also, the use of statistics and information at best is irresponsible, and at worst is illegal. They still track students who have left the program without their knowledge, and only report on students who succeed within the program. Their "100%" graduation rate is more like 50%.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit abusing statistics, and stop lying to students and parents. Open up an advertising agency, since that's all that you are good at.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros: decent pay and flexible hours Cons: too many cooks in the kitchen management wise. Advice to Senior Management: create a more systematic and linear approach with mid management More
