I worked at College Internship Program

Pros

there's good pay, good location, good students. perks include some nice lunches and fun times hanging out with the students.

Cons

the downsides include having to work with staff that micromanage their employees after months of not paying attention to their work. the program is way too expensive for students and i wouldn't recommend it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

my advice would be to revise the management of the bloomington office. those in charge have caused all of the good employees to leave the company.

I worked at College Internship Program full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Some great students with umlimted potential.

    Cons

CIP is run poorly on so many levels. Staff is not given enough training or support, and the Program Director is pulled in so many directions trying to implement ineffective, constantly-changing, and time-wasting priorities that it's near impossible to manage the center. Students are supposed to receive supports that are tailred to their needs but instead spend most of their day attending classes or participating in activites that they don't like or aren't interested. Parents spend a lot of money for their child to attend CIP, for some students it's over $80,000 a year, and they are many times shut out when they want information on how their child is doing or flat out told lies by senior management in an effort to cover their mistakes. There is a huge divide between the national management and the centers, and the morale for a lot of the staff really suffers because. of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a competent consultant to completely revamp your curriculum. Most of it is boring, uninteresting, and outdated. Develop a comprehensive staff training program and provide on-going continuing employee education. The classes in the Elms College autism certificate program are a waste of time & money. Focus more on vocational supports for students so can get practical job skills. Provide parent support so they know what's happening with their child and aren't frustrated with the lack of information.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
