Pros

College Summit has very high quality staff all truly focused on working with high schools to help low-income students get to college. Working at College Summit, you're part of a great team. Leadership is caring about mission and about people. Technology and analysis are seen as valuable. Caring about students as real people, with huge potential, not as charity-cases, is a core value of the organization, and it's lived.

Cons

There is lots of work to do, and it would be great if there were more people and more resources to do it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be sure to pace yourselves for the marathon.

I have been working at College Summit

    Pros

Right now the only good reason to work there is they give you the week between Christmas and NYE off.

    Cons

    1. The founder and CEO is an awful leader and often switches priorities mid stream. 2. 2 rounds of lay offs in less than 12 months. 3. No reserve only survives off a line of credit and seems as if the place will go broke at any minute. 4. Offices are in bad shape and not pretty. 5. Staff morale is at an all time low. 6. staff has lost all respect for founder and CEO. 7. Everyone is looking for a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The founder and CEO should not be in leadership. He can help design programs but shouldn't be leading. Yes, the foundation has grown but he is not capable of managing that. Hire someone who can actually manage and you will keep staff and doors will stay open.
