I worked at Columbia Credit Union

Pros

Good sense of community values, Columbia credit union attempts to set a good example for other businesses by building LEED certified branches

Cons

Recent shifts in senior management have placed unattainable bonus incentives this previous year, which has become another way for the company to alienate their employees while asking the. To do more work.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop screwing your front-line employees. They are the main reason CCU has received best financial institution and best customer service in the past two years, and your short-sighted "cost saving techniques" of this year has made CCU a very unpleasant place to work. If your employees aren't happy, they won't give good member service and you WILL start to see members migrate to other credit unions

Small minded individuals with big ego's running the organization like their personal kingdom.

I worked at Columbia Credit Union

    Pros

It's a local organization that has roots in the community and makes an effort to be involved and support that community. Also has some pretty good products and services for it's members.

    Cons

Middle to Senior management have no interest in improving the organization. The only thing they concern themselves with is whether you stroke their ego's or give the proper respect due their "title" even the individual does nothing to earn that respect. Advancement's and rewards seemed to be strongly based on favoritism and outsiders and their backgrounds are made to feel unwelcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should take a serious look at the individuals managing the branches and all of middle management. Just because they have been with the organization 20 years doesn't mean they are still a good fit to lead your employees. Stop asking hourly employees to sacrifice pay, benefit's, and what they can offer members just so Middle and Senior management can keep their salaries, jobs, bonuses and titles. Top heavy organizations ultimately fall over.

    Pros

The organization is incredibly stable and strong. For a person who wishes to be in the financial services field it has great training opportunities. Many employees have been there for over 15 years, many over 20.

    Cons

Advancement opportunities are minimal and the pay and incentive structure are very week,
