Pros

Incredible footwear with the Sorel brand and fabulous cutting edge technology based apparel.

Cons

No accountability within departments. Employees are downright hostile towards one another. Lots of verbal direction - no trail when wrong.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Demand accountability from yourselves all the way down the chain. Create, implement and demand processes from each department and determine that those processes work across all departments. Learn to respect one another and quit throwing people under the bus - take responsibility for your bad decisions and don't blame them on those that can't defend or protect themselves. Create an environment that allows people to thrive and grow not wither on the vine.

    Pros

    Columbia is forward thinking in many ways and values employee input. There is opportunity for those willing to show initiative. It's not a place where you can expect to thrive if you want to just follow a job description.

    Cons

    Management doesn't always communicate when changes are occurring. People want to participate in the growth of the company, but when change is mandated without explanation, it creates dissatisfaction among employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be transparent and open about change and the impact of change. There is lots of unknown associated with the changes occurring and people react differently, but many want to know that there is a clear direction that is defined and well articulated.
