Pros

Intellectual stimulation, interesting colleagues, and a great work environment are some of the factors that contribute to a satisfying work experience.

Cons

The fact that the university is huge makes for a big bureaucracy that slows things down. One needs a lot of patience.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please do not make further cuts to benefits. Please reward gifted managers and staff members. Sometimes they are sacrificed during the numerous reorganizations that take place.

Work here if you have something you're personally working towards. Otherwise you'll be spinning your wheels.

    Pros

Great campus. Convenient location. Easy to commute to. Very reasonable time off & goog selection of benefits. Access to libraries. Inexpensive gym on campus.

    Cons

Complete lack of communication between schools. Tons of wasteful spending. No oversight of Dean's excessive spending. Tons of illegal non-competitive job bidding. Nepotistic insider hiring. Terrible salary increases. Lack of quality food choices on campus. Confusing bureaucratic red-tape in dealing with HR. Constant trying to skirt/lack of knowing union rules. Expressed disgust for staff. No clear whistleblower policy or way of reporting malfeasance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This description does not apply to all departments but to several I have encountered. If the above describes how your employees feel about working for your department then perhaps you should reconsider how you compensate your staff and do business. People notice what you're spending money on. If you're spending on building, fancy offices and executive perks are blatant while you're telling everyone else you can't afford anything but the smallest cost of living increase allowed by the university you can expect a lot of disgruntled workers.

    No opinion of CEO
