I worked at Columbia University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The students are wonderful and it feels like everyone strives for excellence. Creates an atmosphere where people want to do as much as possible.

    Cons

Salary at certain levels are low, and it can take time to be promoted. In addition, in some departments there is no room for professional growth because of the structure. There is a lot of bureaucracy to implement new programs and ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More professional development opportunities. More transparency surrounding politics and money. Clear career pathways.
