    Pros

The students are wonderful and it feels like everyone strives for excellence. Creates an atmosphere where people want to do as much as possible.

    Cons

Salary at certain levels are low, and it can take time to be promoted. In addition, in some departments there is no room for professional growth because of the structure. There is a lot of bureaucracy to implement new programs and ideas.

    Advice to Management

More professional development opportunities. More transparency surrounding politics and money. Clear career pathways.

  2. Exciting graduate student life

    Pros

A lot of smart people around.
The University provides a lot of opportunities for you to learn, to achieve.
    Manhattan living is exciting

    Cons

If your adviser is terrible, then everything is screwed.
Most Ph.D. students spent spend a lot of time doing research, if you don't like research, it's painful.
