Current Employee - Librarian  in  New York, NY
Current Employee - Librarian in New York, NY

Pros

As a part-time librarian, I've been given a lot of cares and attentions from the staffs. The working environment is really comfortable.

Cons

The payment is not so good. After all, it's a job that everybody can do and it requires no technical skills.

    Pros

    -Pretty good hourly pay
    - Good resources and cool classrooms
    - Very nice students
    - The main campus is beautiful, and this is where most people teach
    - Having co-teachers was great
    - Observation and critique was great
    - You can request a schedule that works well for you. There may be some flexibility as to when your classes meet. So if you're not a morning person, you can request a 10 or 11 AM start.

    Cons

    - Not all rooms have internet access and/or built-in projectors
    - Apparently having one lukewarm student review can lead to a meeting with the director
I only taught one session, and got all 4s and 5s out of 5. However, I have heard that a 3 can land you in trouble. Many part-timers have stopped working there because of this.

    Pros

The school provides an office which three RAs share. My professor provides computers to use. You can print out for free. You receive about 20% discount for your cellphone monthly fee.

    Cons

The school gym is not free, but that is all.
