I worked at Combined Jewish Philanthropies

    Pros

Paid US and Jewish Holidays off.

Early closings on Fridays during Fall/Winter months.

    All staff outings pretty cool.

They really rally together during crisis, in Israel and beyond. Community oriented.

    Cons

    Not inclusive, very click-ish.

    Too many pointless meetings.

    Promotions are politics/and nepotism driven.

Not a good place for creativity to thrive, as soon as you have an idea it's shot down within the first round of sharing it, for mediocre and "safe" versions.

    No real room for growth.

Work from home is given to favorites, you need to show face in office to be considered as work.

Leadership doesn't understand what needs to happen for certain ideas to be executed. They lack the "know-how" to do them themselves, and proper time isn't given to execute them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let qualified people operate in their areas of expertise, nurture growth and talent.

Hire people based on qualifications, not just because they're from your community, or they're an ex-colleague, or friend, or friend's daughter or son.

Be everything that you say CJP's mission is, be inclusive to ALL.

I worked at Combined Jewish Philanthropies full-time

    Pros

    Benefits package is good
    Generous time off
    Great location

    Cons

Ideas and feedback are solicited and encouraged from staff, but ideas are not taken seriously (staff are not listened to - "feedback" is a joke)
Senior executives are clueless and overpaid
Workload for some positions is out of control (especially support positions)
Promotions are only given to people who management "likes" - popularity contest (you have to play the game and be fake)
Differing viewpoints or ideas are shot down
Lack of respect for other employees
Creativity is not encouraged - very stuck in old ways, and won't change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees and respect them
