I worked at Commercial Metals full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great benefits, regular hours, little to no supervision or direction on project or duties. Convenient location to most of DFW.

Cons

Not competitive on salary, little to no compassion for employees needs, unfriendly work environment, Company seems to lack direction for the future.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a clear company directional plan for the corporate office, work in the field understand your employees needs, become more of the family oriented company that your reputation says you are. Previous employees will be happy to consult with the management to help you rebuild the company in a manner that will make current employees more satisfied with their jobs.

I worked at Commercial Metals as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

They pay well, willing to accept most applicants willing to work. You'll get paid well but also work really hard if you're actually someone making steel. Many interesting people to work with.

    Cons

High chance your coworkers will be rude, obnoxious and not the smartest people around.

I have been working at Commercial Metals (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun and exciting work, always something to do. While being paid well to do the job, I was even recognized for doing a great job 2 weeks before I was let go, under dubious circumstances. Beware of company

    Cons

BUT, in this business it is tough to work with people you don't feel have your personal or company best interest at heart. One other thing, when you sign your contractual agreement READ IT!! If you are not employed at time of "Bonus" payout, then you do not get it!! Meaning, the Bonus term closes in October and the payout is in November. So the company can fire you at anytime in-between these times for ANY reason, and you do not get the bonus you worked the whole year to earn. Then, your bonus is divided amount the 2 other managers that remain, meaning they have a vested interest in not keeping you on board to collect your bonus. Beware of this company!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I recommend the company change the policy of allowing people to be terminated just because of their bonus. Which whether they know it or not happens nearly every year in one of your facilities.
