I have been working at Commonwealth Bank of Australia full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Work/Life Balance generally across the Group, most family friendly workforce in the Banking Industry generally, staff are assessed on both outcomes and behaviours which is not always the case in Financial Services organisations, Bank is very customer focused internally and externally, lots of training and secondment opportunities for star performers

Cons

Not all senior roles are filled by managers with relevant skill sets or people management capability or are leading by example despite Group values and policies in place, increasing pressure to deliver outcomes with less than desired resourcing support due to the cost constraint and economic environment, HR are moving towards a self service model (ok) however you don't see an offsetting increase in provision of value add HR services, Staff tend to get pigeoned holed in terms of their skill sets which can make it difficult to progress or move across the Group

I worked at Commonwealth Bank of Australia full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great vibe, everyone pretty motivated, not too much pressure, very social. Good business, very reputable, largest fund manager in Australia.

    Cons

Owned by CBA so some red tape etc, also a bit political at times. Negatively impacted when the markets and financial services are not performing well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut down on the political rubbish - promote people who are good at their job and get things done rather than 'talk the talk'
