I worked at Commonwealth Bank of Australia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

*Large organisation, so plenty of scope to move around and develop in different business units / divisions.
    *Staff benefits quite good.
*CBA are leading the way with investment / upgrades in technology and infrastructure.

    Cons

    * Head office function is overstaffed with middle management and many examples of duplication of roles / activities across different departments.
    * Enforcing two salary freezes in four years despite turning in record multi-billion dollar profits in that time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the layers of management - Ian Narev is an excellent CEO with a clear vision for the company, however that is lost by the time it is filtered through to staff with a lot managers more interested in feathering their own nests than following the direction set out at exec level.
