Pros

Can see investments in people and positioned at the forefront of change management. Supportive culture as well.

Still quite bureaucratic and process-driven

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't fall short concentrating on short-term goals and neglecting the long-term objectives. Invest more in people and leadership development.

I have been working at Commonwealth Bank of Australia full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work on projects / programs with large scale.
Best customer-facing technology in the market.
    Innovative and forward thinking.

    Cons

A culture that accepts a lack of accountability and tolerates repeated failure (and not the fail fast and learn from the experience type of failure), from staff at all levels, makes project delivery extremely challenging.
Over-specialisation in technology roles means that everything requires lots of people and meetings to get things done - we long for a dev-ops world.
Internal technology is very dated (Windows XP, for example, is still standard operating system) and

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great vision but need to drive execution - more accountability, less bureaucracy.

I have been working at Commonwealth Bank of Australia part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work environment with full remote access, many opportunities for secondments to other business units, large and diverse organisation

    Cons

Very poor system implementations lacking proper business analysis, lack of accountability at all levels, tends to be a blame-game culture, a very bureaucratic slow moving machine

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement proper system development lifecycle, have skilled business analysts work on projects - not just staff from business with no BA skills, make staff/management accountable, get rid of blame culture, try to reduce bureaucracy to improve productivity
