Pros

Short Commute Never Bring Work Home, day starts and ends at designated times Low Stress

Cons

Not Challenging, no one wants to make improvements to the process Lack of Flexibility with regard time, no flex time or work/life accommodations Would like better vacation plan, only get two weeks as a State Employee Performance Recognition is pre-designed so you can work really hard and do great things but you will receive the same recognition/compensation as someone doing the bare minimum.

Advice to Management

Start operating like a business with a customer service mentality and reward staff for exceeding expectations.

    Pros

Work is not overwhelming and can be challenging at times with many projects to work on if you can get assigned to them.

    Cons

Many starts and stops can become very frustrating. Not all but too many managers are talking heads who take undue credit and pass blame way too often with no accountability or discipline for bad work. Much more than in the private sector.

    Advice to Management

IMHO, the remaining vestiges of worthless management left here to walk around acting busy with their narcissistic need to tell everyone how busy their life is are useless and expendable. OK, not all but too many of them. They take all the credit for work they didn't -and can't- do. They puff up their fictitious and useless accomplishments and regurgitate this drivel interminably to every unsuspecting hostage they can corner. Some of them have already jumped ship and hopefully you can get rid of the remainder of this bane of moral before you lose a lot of conscientious, talented, and hard working people.
