Pros

Good Team environment.
Great experience wroking in the shcool environment.

Cons

management is not always as supportive as they could be. They negotiate programs and partnerships. yet when an issues arise during implementation, they are not always available to smooth things out or to ensure their side of the partnership.
We were held responsible for outcomes that were often above our control.

I have been working at Communities In Schools full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Ongoing interaction with school officials and service providers.
-You are encouraged to use different ways of brokering services into schools.
-Great networking opportunities with various small and large scale nonprofit agencies.

    Cons

-Hierarchy in the Chicago office does micromanage coordinators if they do not like the coordinator.
-The ex director will push for numbers rather than substantive programs that make more of a long term positive effect on the children and families of the schools the org serves.
-If you are a person that really wants to help the schools and children of Chicago you will quickly learn that this org is only about the numbers & be frustrated.
-Pay is just okay for the work you will sometimes have to do outside of work hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to not down your employees. Listen to the service providers when they state what they need in assistance.Think about why people have left the organization in the past and what you could have done to keep valuable resources.
