I have been working at Community Health Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Good health coverage benefits, no-cost procedures at hospitals, ever-growing IT footprint in healthcare. company is growth minded.

Cons

Some leadership say 'yes' to every request without regard for overall good of the company. corporate office wastes more money than they will grant in local budgets. business processes slow due to employee turnover. company prefers use of consultants - who turn out to be temps reading a script.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

need for greater clinical process monitoring and accountability.

I worked at Community Health Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefit package is very good, affordable for a family. Large company. Compensation is decent on hire, but don't expect raises. Great place to work if you're a trained monkey.

    Cons

Very little planning goes into any change in procedure or process, resulting in disaster most often. IT server space is inadequate for the number of users accessing the system at the month's end and the company sees this as "normal". Constant threats of lay-offs every time the census drops. Any job functions requiring thought process are outsourced. No job advancement opportunities. Expect to work on personal time. "doing more with less".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the implications of changes at a local/clinical level prior to making changes. Value employees. "E-Cards" do not properly celebrate events such as nurse's week, therapy month, etc.

    Pros

great care in individual facilities but that is all

    Cons

    Jefferson City, TN
Colin McRae CEO and Carol Wolfenbarger CNO are 2 of the worst senior leaders i have ever seen. Colin if full of himself and hiding anything negative from Corporate so that he looks good, does not care about the employees at all, just typical fake to your face, the things i heard him say behind closed doors. Carol lets on like she cares and pretends to be really nice but cross her or don't go along with what she wants then she will get rid of you anyway she can, I still have email's providing proof her ways are not legal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

actually listen when managers give you proof and feedback on your senior leaders
