I have been working at Compass Group USA

Pros

Everything depends on which sector you are working for. Restaurant Associates, Wolfgang Puck catering, Flik, Levy, Morrison, Eurest, etc. With RA, Puck and Flik you can be at the top of your field and working some of the most glamorous events in the nation. There is tremendous opportunity for advancement, more if you are willing to relocate. Good money in the "nice" sectors. Hard work but worth it.

Cons

File work/life balance in the mythology section. Really sub par managers tend to thrive in the core 4 sectors. Way too much redundant administrative HR type work to do. Needs desperately to be pared down. Training is company specific and does not allow for transferable growth. Benefits to managers are currently being canabalized to save $. Nepotism is alive and well and living in Compass group, shockingly open practice of it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accountability needs to be practiced as much as it is preached. Transfering and even promoting problem managers to get them off the radar sends bad signals to other employees.

I have been working at Compass Group USA

    Pros

Being employed is a good thing.

    Cons

No holiday pay. Have a boss that is mentally challanged, threating monster, and lacks ablilty to do anything analytical. Charged to eat food that would other wise be thrown away. Accumulate vacation time every 12 months, not every 6. They never check on lower level management's treatment of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compass group needs to do more of the following in order to avoid a class action law suit: Be more compassionate when it comes to figuring what salary should be for employees, you will not keep premium employees on a two cent wages. Consider paying holiday pay for major holidays, before you are forced to do so by law. Check lower level management's treatment of employees and make sure they are following laws and proper company procedures
