I worked at Compass Lexecon full-time for more than a year

Pros

Opportunity to work on interesting, high-level, impactful work (i.e. large antitrust cases, major mergers etc.)

Cons

Culture is rather poor; no medium-to-long-term investment in junior staff.
Lots of politics at local office level, which is detrimental to staff morale.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more of a one-company culture vs. different cultures for individual offices.
Make weekend work less frequent and only when really needed.
Invest in longer-term development of staff, including junior staff.

I have been working at Compass Lexecon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Smart colleagues, pleasant atmosphere, free food. Casework is sometimes interesting; if senior staff grow to like you, they'll involve you in more analytical thinking and modeling.

    Cons

Lots of work on evenings and weekends, often without advance warning. Much of the work for analysts and senior analysts can be quite tedious--data entry, formatting, printing binders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Warn people about the evening and weekend work very clearly before they commit. Some folks burn out on it, and everyone can make better decisions with more information ahead of time.
