I worked at CompuCom full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Very good documentation for migration or deployment steps, every step is documented and stored in intranet sites. Multiple copies of Peoplesoft or DBA update steps.

Cons

DBA's are scattered across the globe, both US and off shore teams can be difficult to contact when an on call issue comes up.

Advice to Management

Very good training programs for DBA's and a lot of help for On Call DBA teams.

I have been working at CompuCom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent atmosphere, made a lot of friends here

    Cons

Still making $17.50/hour as an L2 desktop support analyst after 5 years - it seems to be an unwritten company policy not to give raises to techs, while hiring multiple unqalified "project managers" for twice as much as they pay us due to their friendship with or relation to one of the managers here.

    Advice to Management

Stop the nepotism/cronyism. Pay your techs in line with what your competitors are paying. Stop using the economy as an excuse, big businesses are overflowing with profits these days. Don't claim you don't have money in the budget for raises every year - you would if you'd stop hiring 27 project managers at a time who don't do any work & blame us for everything that doesn't get done. A competent business would find a way to keep their employees happy.

I worked at CompuCom as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you like sleeping on the job then this is the job for you.

    Cons

Terrible upper level management. No training plan what so ever. No way to work your way up the ranks. Poor discipline. Dirty workplace. Poorly equips employees to deal with situations.

    Advice to Management

Need to discipline employees. I have seen it all in this environment and I am quite disappointed.
