ProsIf you work in the field, complete hands-off attitude of management unless something goes wrong, i.e. someone has a complaint. Within reason you get to manage your own affairs.

ConsIf you work in the field, complete hands-off attitude of management unless something goes wrong, i.e. someone has a complaint. Getting help with your workload can be difficult, especially if you don't have strong bonds with your co-workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop having 50+ field employees assigned to a single manager, especially when that manager has customer-facing responsibilities! The lack of professional development. promotions, and positive (rather than only negative) feedback is the direct result of overburdened managers who are forced to unofficially delegate to designates. I can't imagine that more than 20-25 direct reports is fair to either the manager or the subordinate.
