    Pros

It's a big company with a large footprint in the computer service fields. You can get a grip on a large number of technologies

    Cons

Poor management, lack of direction, poor training, are just a few negatives. Even worse, they're willing to cut any corner to save a few dollars, causing many applications to be run on shoestring budget. They've made large effort to offshore many positions to India, or Australia. The pay is low for comparable positions. In general, management doesn't feel the need to let the worker bees know the reasons or direction that the group is heading.

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality services, not just growth for growth sake.

    Pros

The co-workers and a place to get started in your career.

    Cons

Horrible pay for the work performed. Each account is required to be it's own profit center and I worked on the "premier" account of DuPont and yet we were never given brand new laptops to use - we only ever got hand-me-downs that were always out of warranty and would frequently break - the senior managers of the account would have a new computer every 1-2 years but the people who actually do the work within the account never had new computers to use - no matter what Line of Service (PMO, Tcom, Desktop Support, Midrange, Mainframe, etc). I was without a laptop for over 3 weeks because CSC did not have anyone from tech support to fix it. CSC cut back so badly that it put desktop support of CSC employees behind desktop support of DuPont employees - this is no joke - it did and continues to happen there in Newark, DE. I was then given a 6 year old laptop to replace the 9 year old laptop that could no longer be fixed - and here we are working in the Project Management Office of the "premier" DuPont account getting this kind of service from within CSC - can you imagine how bad the service is to CSC customers/accounts when CSC employees are taken care of in this manner??

    Advice to Management

Start paying better across the board - you "think" you pay "competitively" for your industry, but that is plainly not true nor do you pay competitively for the geographic region and considering how extremely poor the health coverages are AND only providing 2 weeks of vacation (3 weeks if you are there for more than 5 years) is absolutely insane when almost ALL of the companies around you geographically are paying better, have better health benefits and more vacation time. You wonder why the DuPont account is shrinking at CSC so quickly?? These are the reasons. When CSC chooses to "RIF" (Reduction in Force) their employees, CSC RIFs the best, most experienced, senior employees ONLY because CSC thinks they can do more with 2 Junior employees instead of keeping that 1 Senior employee and that is just not true, PLUS you lose the high quality of the senior employee. DuPont sees how poorly CSC manages CSC employees in these areas and continues to make better offers to senior CSC technical people to bring those folks back into the DuPont corporation. Other CSC accounts are poaching CSC employees for these same reasons. CSC could be a great place to work, but it needs fixed badly from the top down on these items.
