I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Exposure to DOD work. Interaction with many levels of management. Ability to assume visible positions in a project. Work load typically not bad. Little travel (for me). Good salary.

Cons

CSC is now trying to emulate HP as a low cost provider. There is NO training available EVER, but you are expected to increase your skills for free on your own time. Poor vacation policy and consideration for employees. Poor hiring practices- becoming a body shop. Dilbert-like corporate culture.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

CSC needs to decide whether it wants to compete on quality or price. Being a consultant means the employer should provide real training to keep skills updated.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent contract rate and some flexibility as far as allowing some remote days. Varied tasks utilizing a lot of BA skills offers opportunity for learning if you have initiative. Some of the people are very nice.

    Cons

Very much a good ole boy network. Middle management is poor and bullying is tolerated. Morale is low and there is high employee turnover. Health insurance is not very good and is quite expensive. The company is moving to the bullpen open table work arrangement, eliminating cubes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management at all levels needs professional training on management skills -- and should be monitored for compliance.

I have been working at Computer Sciences Corp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

CSC is very large. No one takes it personally if you want to move to a different job within the company. Most managers are quite helpful, in fact. Benefits are typical for a large corporation: adequate to good. It's almost impossible to get fired.

    Cons

CSC's size can also be a con -- if you want to feel like you're really making a difference, this is not the place for you.
