Former Employee - Distribution Splicer in Brooklyn, NY

I worked at Con Edison of New York full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Steady work, hourly wage (OT was defined), learning an electrical trade is pretty cool and useful, VERY difficult to get fired.

Cons

The Union rules and mindset made it difficult to distinguish yourself; good work wasn't necessarily rewarded. Very PC, affirmative action heavy

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hassle people who know what they're doing; discipline bad apples when necessary instead of letting it fester and then cracking down on everyone in a general sense.
