Good place to work, but highly bureaucratic and slow to change

Senior Specialist (Current Employee)
New York, NY

ProsCompetitive compensation and opportunities for advancement. Because Con Ed is a monopoly (for all intents and purposes) if you are even marginally competent, you will have a job for as long as you wish!

ConsLife at Con Ed is a double-edged sword; you will have no problem staying employed and fairly well compensated, but if you are looking for a dynamic environment where new ideas are embraced, you might want to look elsewhere

Advice to Senior ManagementAs an employee and - more importantly - as a shareholder, please cut the waste! The only reason Con Ed is able to maintain a decent stock price and pay a consistent dividend is they are the only game in town. If the marketplace for utilities was even remotely competitive, we would have been out of business long ago.
