Great first years but became rather toxic later.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Omaha, NE

Pros

More dynamic in regards to I.T than you'd expect for a big established blue chip type company. You were encouraged and supported to 'be bold'. Senior management recognized that employees individually and as groups must be permitted to innovate. This started to fall apart later as things became more and more politically contaminated.

Cons

Quite top heavy in the middle layers of management and all paths and definitions of success were defined by how fast you made it into management. This stifles technical excellence and created weird situations where one person might report to 3 same level managers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce management by about one third in all layers and foster self organizing teams that can exert their maximum energy toward building competitive products and running lean projects through quickly. Share the rewards at all levels and not just to those that made it to management.

    Pros

    Opportunities to grow, continue employement
    Good Pay raises
    Most People Positive

    Cons

When your skills are no longer required they are very vicious and stingy, received 1 week pay.
Tribal, Nepotism apparent after 5 years, certain people are in the good ol boy club and are beyond ethics and bypass HR rules. Steer clear of EthicsPoint if you suspect someone who is a member...
Wish I'd taken advise by a former school teacher who left ConAgra and stated "good for five years only!"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the narcisstic personalities in management who create all the ill will and are responsible for all the negative press events such as Peanut Butter recalls..

    Pros

The IT department is rife with opportunities to grow and learn new processes and systems. People are helpful and accepting. Teamwork is great, and it never feels like you're being judged.

    Cons

I have no cons to mention. The teams here have been incredible and I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary or strange that left a sour taste in my mouth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. It is wonderful
