I worked at ConAgra Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Excellent pay and benefits, and the company values are outstanding. There is a broad portfolio of branded products, commodities processing, food service, and private label business, which enables one to touch the entire consumer foods industry from one location.

Cons

The company is risk averse, and tends to shy away from strategic investments in favor of tactical responses.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a strategy of where you want to see your products and 5 years and have your people develop road maps to get there.

I have been working at ConAgra Foods full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many Brands to support (provides opportunity), great pay and benefits, flexible work environment (work from home, tele-commute, etc.).

    Cons

Being in the consumer goods/food industry provides challenges in terms of commodity prices, and food is a very competitive world (up against Kraft, Mondelez, Hillshire Brands).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've done a lot for all the employees, and are pretty progressive in your thinking. But need to figure out how to provide on-going support to key brands vs, trying to spread resources across all brands. Need to figure out the key to consistent growth in a turbulent environment.

Management disconnected from the main hourly employees

I have been working at ConAgra Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay & Benefits. Hourly employees: ( some of the better people I have met).

    Cons

Management is disconnected from the main hourly employees. Poor communication from management to employees creates difficult work environment. Management promotion is decided not by the most skilled/qualified person but by who can make themselves look the best even if they are not qualified for the position. Conflicting policies on how to do a task create a disorganized workplace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with your hourly employees many of them have been their for many years and have tons of experience running their equipment. If the hourly employees were listened to it would substantially increase productivity and moral.
