Former Employee - Payment Poster Intern in Addison, TX

I worked at Concentra as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

-Had laid back supervisor, but still challenged me with tasks
-Helpful coworkers
-Able to teach me about managing, hiring, and payment posting
-Had flex time

Cons

-First person to intern in the Billing Department
-Had to learn the system quickly, but it was not too trying

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Flex time is great for working with schedule. Keep hiring people that do the job well & are social, this made work not such a chore.

I have been working at Concentra full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Limitless opportunity for hard workers. Training and coaching covers more topics and in more depth each year. Really does try to do the right things for the right reasons -- doesn't always make it, but heart is in the right place. Solid communication of corporate strategies and plans. Focus on putting the patient first at all times.

    Cons

IT could be improved -- plans are in place & implemented. Conflicting goals of Patient Service with economics of running the clinics can make things difficult. Adding 1 FTE for every 2 centers or so should be tried. Need to slightly increase respect for experienced staff and improve retention rates of right people. If you're not a fast paced worker, this is not the right fit for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase respect for front line staff. The demands are ceaseless and sometimes conflicting.

I have been working at Concentra full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Concentra known for its Clinics for Occupational Medicine and Physical Therapy is going to be making a big presence in the Primary Care world in 2013. WIth that being said the company is really preparing employees for what is to come. The support system within in the company is great and it has been a real pleasure working for Concentra.

    Cons

Although it may be looked upon as a Con, for future employees the interview process is very in depth. If you interview with Concentra please know that it is not going to be a one and done interview process. Concentra likes prospective employees to interview with various levels of employees and really does its home work when it comes to choosing the right candidate.
