Former Employee - Referral Coordinator in Plano, TX
Former Employee - Referral Coordinator in Plano, TX

I worked at Concentra full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Decent pay for the work
Routine and a few choices on schedules (7-4, 8-5)

Cons

complete absence of transparency or communication (twice (!) during the 15 months I worked here, I went to a meeting and found out I was on a different team with a different supervisor starting that day..)
unprofessional environment / coworkers (worked with people who cursed, talked about their sex lives LOUDLY in the break room, etc)
managers who had no right to ever be in a managerial position (a supervisor should absolutely never mention how many miscarriages she's had during a "get-to-know-you meeting"...or the fact that she thinks she has "no future" at the company...)
promotions based on anything but skill. the best workers (objectively, by the numbers) never got promoted while several people who could barely do their job (but were male and thus probably easier to manipulate by conniving female supervisors...) were promoted.
monotony: it takes a few weeks to get the job "down" and then you could do it in your sleep

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop throwing around buzzwords like transparency and openness until you are ready to provide it.

    Disappointing

I have been working at Concentra

    Pros

The center teams are wonderful, hardworking, under paid and under paid.

    Cons

The GA region is ran by a leader who is out of pocket, plays favorites. The area and regional leaders are de motivating, unsupportive and they treat the centers team leaders and staff
As if they are disposable. Certain COD's are not held to the same standard and do not endure the same ramifications if they are the regional area directors pet. This is the consensus amount the entire division. Unfortunately no one dares to utter a word to provoke change for fear of their position.

The work load and compensation do not align and to make matters work you never receive positive feedback with the exception of one AOD in Atlanta who is treated poorly by the RAD. The RAD only reaches out to the teams to express dissatisfaction . She never reaches out to the celebrate success but does not hesitate to express her discontent with no regard for the person. It's truly unfortunate and will only result in continued high turn over. I encourage someone to reach out to the teams and ensure them it will be confidential and you will be amazed to discover the truth in what I have written and the need for change. Hopefully someone will put an end to the unfairness and we can all get back to work without the constant feeling of being chastised or fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The centers work hard. Very hard to forget to mention all the positive results and work they do everyday in addition to the opportunities they need to work on. People work much harder and are much happier if they are recognized for all their hard work and efforts. If all you hear is what you need to do, what you didn't do and what you did wrong all you will feel is defeated, unmotivated and hopeless. All we need is hope, some acknowledgment and transparency which is non existent accept for one ACOD who is real actively new...you all could learn a thing or 2 from him especially the RAD. Hopefully 2014 will bring about the necessary change for the better of all and put an end to the small monarchy/click the RAD has formed. It's quite sad really...all we want is to be appreciated and treated equally and fairly.

Area Operations Management in Cincinnati fake and not real with staff. Area ops directors say one thing and do another.

I have been working at Concentra full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

MA's, Docs at the clinic are great. Regional Medical Directors and Physicians are awesome. Best part are the physicians

    Cons

Area Ops Directors don't support staff. State that they will do one thing/ they do something else. They have many outstanding staff that did not get paid shift diff for nights and evenings. Didn't communicate this was happening. Terrible communication. If you don't get along with the ops click even if you are doing your role and uncovering issues for the betterment of the company; they will tell you that "you are not transparent, that you are not doing your job or truthful." The truth is if you are truly talented and want a progressive career and don't talk like a "valley-girl"; you won't go far in this company in the Cinci Oh midstates area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and look at the Area ops directors. They tell you one thing and do another and blame their first line leaders. Not paying staff is wrong. Turning staff and directors against each other is wrong. Having other leaders spying and giving reports to the team is wrong. Get rid of your poor leadership that are "puppets" and just say "yes and agree with the area ops team just to keep them quiet." Hire some folks that will really make a difference in the competitive market. The area ops directors will retaliate on their staff and turn it around on you. It is laughable!
