Pros

- Fellow employees are generally good to work with
- Friendly work environment, relatively small offices
- Mid-level management is decent

Cons

- Low employee moral
- Little opportunity for professional growth
- Long working hours that are not worth the salary that employees are paid

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase salaries for employees. If you want to attract and keep good employees you need to offer decent salaries. Shareholders at the company should share more of the profits with their employees. Corporate culture is cult like. Not everyone wants to make Conestoga-Rovers & Associates the focal point of their life.

    1. The people are nice and friendly.
    2. The social committee tries to have out-of-work activities for the staff.
    3. Casual environment.

    Cons

    1. Every move you make is monitored.
    2. It is hard to take time off.
    3. Too much work for the pay.

    Pros

    Company has good presence in the environmental field. Some managers have good experience in the area and can serve as good mentors. Good start for entry level positions

    Cons

    Low pay, end of year "bonus" is essentially a fraction of overtime hours paid out at year end as straight time. Principals and associates can be the most unfair, lazy, and introverted people on the planet and yet manage an office without possessing any leadership skills or risking anything as a result of their behaviour. Job can start stagnating after first year and become mind numbing routine that any school kid can do. Company pretends to adopt a safety culture and "encourages" employes to report injuries but if you get injured and report it your managers they will treat you with scrutiny and try their best to deflect responsibility to keep their injury stats down and your career will be close to being terminated (perceivably for other reasons). Small office environment is reminiscent of immature high school dynamic with frat groups huddling together and handing jobs to one another. If you don't fit in with the "cool" group you don't belong. Male management can be biased and inappropriate and favor female employees regardless of employee's qualifications, quality of work or work ethic. Benefits are close to non existent and are among the worst in the industry. Performance and promotion is highly dependent on billable ratio and golfing with the boss. Very high turnover because management remains in denial of existing problems and principals are immune to any disciplinary action.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Promote your employees fairly based on quality of work and work ethic not "pretty" looks. Adopt pay and benefit structure that is competitive with industry. Pay salaried employees overtime to acknowledge their time spent away from home. Come up with a true bonus system not a rephrased overtime payment system. Principals need to be held accountable for inappropriate behaviour and not remain immune to disciplinary action.
